To make a long story short:
My friend was put on probation in December for retail theft (misdemeanor). He was caught at a bar without his ID on him in March and his PO put him in jail for the weekend. In the beginning of April, he went with his friend to the mall in IL..he lives in Wisconsin. I am not sure of the exact story but his friend stole and somehow left my friend to get caught. He gave the cops his twin brothers name because at the time, he was scared because of his probation. Anyways, he served 4 days in the Cook County jail and the case was dropped. His PO just found out about it and put him in jail for retail theft, lying about his identity, and traveling to another state without permission. Today, his PO gave him the revocation hearing notice papers. He has a really good lawyer but hasn’t been able to talk to him yet. Does anyone have any idea what will happen? I know he was stupid, people make mistakes. Thanks for any advice!
Just to clarify (not sure if it changes anything), he got the charges in IL for retail theft dropped. Although, his PO was able to get the statement he gave at the time he got caught. He has been in jail for 12 days now. It obviously started as a PO hold and now turned into this.
Most likely he will be facing his original charges and the new ones. Might be able to plea bargain out of some of the charges but will probably do a little jail time and some fines.
