Was this a fair verdict by the judge?

Yesterday i had court. The charge was transporting alcohol. The story is My friend picked me up he had a couple beers (i found out later) we get pulled over. Officer smells beer on his breath and searches the car. Cop finds 2 beers from a long time ago that we had no idea were there. My friend gets 3 charges transporting alcohol, tail light out, and Zero Tolerance ( a DUI for minors). i was only the passenger and was given a ticket for transporting. On the day of court my friend has a lawyer he gets out of a DUI no penalty gets out of a ticket for tail light out and was told to do 24 hours of community service and everything will be dropped. I don’t have a lawyer (too expensive). Im given the option of pleading guilty and get 24 hours also or pleading not guilty and if found guilty my punishment would have been the following:
Suspended drivers license til 21
24 hours of community service
on my record for ever since 18
The judge told me that on my record it would look like i had a DUI. so i was force to plea guilty and sentence to 24 hours of community service. I was only the passenger and i got the same penalty of someone who drank and drove. How can i loose my license if i wasn’t driving? Why did i get such a huge punishment when usually the punishment is 8 hours? How does someone who drank and drove only get 24 hours of service? This happened in Illinois cook county the most corrupt county in the country maybe that’s why. But i was respectful and dressed nicely.

This is a side story that may question you. The same village prosecutor John Kenny and same judge in a case that happened in 2003. A garbage man went through a red light hit a 13 year old walking home from school( it was green and the walk light was on) and killed her! John kenny (village prosecutor for the police and village and prosecutor against me in my case) gave the driver 100$ fine for killing a 13 year old girl.
So whats worse killing a 13 girl? Being the passenger of a drunk diver? Or drinking and driving and getting a DUI?

If this is true, it is absolutely appalling. I recommend you go to the media to bring attention to the issue and find a local fair works lawyer who will help you. Good luck. Your friend deserves a harsher punishment than you do.
