10/15 – Occupy Chicago met at 500 S Michigan, the spot previously used for general assemblies, for Global Occupation day. After the 7pm assembly, protesters began setting up tents. The CPD warned protesters that they would be arrested if they chose to remain, and around 12:30 am they moved in. The tents were all removed and hundreds were arrested and transported by CTA buses and police wagons to jail. Remaining protesters marched shortly afterward to 18th st & State st, location of the jail, to express their solidarity with arrested brothers and sisters.
Sorry about the lack of audio. In Illinois, there is an eavesdropping law that prohibits audio-recording a police officer without the officer’s permission. If this youtube channel was not under Occupychi’s name, I might have done things differently, but I believe it is best to be cautious
